OUR STORY

The idea of designing for the animal kingdom originated because of conscious empathy, love for the animal kingdom, and a genuine dislike for how ignorant we as humans have become towards the larger world. While we possess the skills and capabilities to support and enhance the ecosystem around us, we as a dominant species have forgotten that there is something much bigger, stronger, and larger around us: NATURE. It is essential for the survival of our race that we learn to co-exist with the ecosystem with humbleness, respect, and empathy. We need to understand the impact we have on the ecosystem around us and vice-versa and start acting responsibly towards it. 

 

The company was established in 2020 during the challenging times of the COVID pandemic. It is during such a difficult time when we stopped to think about our purpose of existence. To begin with, we had very little to go on. But we had a vision and a reason to serve. So we quickly put together a tiny team of extremely talented designers who had a similar goal in mind and a passion to serve for a good cause. We design to spread awareness and care for the ecosystem as a whole. AKECO collaborates with animal welfare organizations, zoos, animal shelter homes, as well as individuals to design and provide a comfortable space and products for their survival and safety.

We believe in adapting the life-centered design approach rather than the human-centered design which reframes the idea of the 'user' as not just humans, but all living things. It allows us to address not only human needs but the increasingly complex interdependencies that exist within life. We partner with multiple NGOs and organizations to spread love, warmth, and health for our furry friends by creating wonderful space designs and customized products. We also work with individuals and families who have pets, planning to have them in the future, or who is just a wellwisher of the ecosystem and the environment.
